To fully understand how this wedding theme came about, you need some background history.
Jennifer and Walter met at The Turnbull years ago. That was the first time. Some sort of music-related event, I believe. Then they started running into each other. A lot. Next was at Track 29 - another music related event here in Chattanooga, Tn. Finally, Walt took the hint. He asked Jen out…. on a date…. to Bonnaroo. Yeah, you know, the big dusty music festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The next year, it was Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Seeing a theme here? They actually wanted to get married at Bonnaroo, but I don’t think all of their guests would have appreciated sleeping in tents and not showering for 3 days, like the grandparents, right.
So there ya have it. A wild, colorful, vibrant, festival-themed wedding at The Turnbull Building, where they first met all those years ago. Cue *awwwwww*!
Man, if this wasn’t one for the books, then none of them are. And just a small disclaimer here, Walt and Jen are friends, so we knew it would be a blast. I actually shot Walt’s brother’s wedding last fall! Click here for that one!
About three weeks before the wedding, Walter had a motorcycle accident. Broke, like, all the bones in his leg. Okay, not really ALL of them, but it looked pretty gruesome! He sported a very stylish boot and boot cover for the wedding, which honestly wasn’t that noticeable. But the best part was probably that his mom wheeled him around in a wheelchair for their formal dance. HA! I still giggle looking at those images! Jennifer wore a gorgeous beaded BHLDN gown, red Mary Jane’s and carried around this stunning floral masterpiece by the always talented Southerly Flower Farm. Omg, and don’t forget to check out that AMAZING cake design by one of Chattanooga’s most talented bakers, Yellow Cake Company.
Their details truly were phenomenal. Sarah with Southerly helped bring Jen’s vision to life for their altar and the reception decor. I LOVED their custom Cocktail recipe book. Honestly, there’s so much, you’ll just have to see for yourselves!
But the highlight was, no doubt, their epic festy vibe wedding reception! DJ Tanner Coates spun the sickest records (he’s seriously one of my favorite Chattanooga, Tennessee DJs okuurrrrrt). They had life-size+ cardboard cut-outs of…themselves, and their cat, blow-up pool toys, glow sticks, balloons, booze, beats - everything a damn good reception needs!
Who needs the ‘Roo, when you’ve got weddings like this!?
Fun story: the fire alarm went off right after the wedding ceremony. No fires were found, but the firefighters did pose for a few awesome pics!
