While Kate and Joe planned a modern and chic wedding, I knew Kate was a creative by nature. She had expressed to me that she usually never wears pink and black is more her thing. She’d told me she didn’t want just the traditional wedding portraits - she wanted something more, something different. Snaps, snaps, that’s my language she’s speaking.
She and Joe chose the industrial yet modish wedding venue, Company 251 just outside Chicago, in Aurora, Illinois. With it’s white brick walls and modern light fixtures, the only thing needed to really set off the space was a beautiful floral design by Floral Wonders.
As dazzling as everything was, it was the emotion, the joy, the tears of happiness and laughter that really set the stage for this couple. Kate’s daughter, and soon to be Joe’s new daughter, Evie repeatedly stole the show in a glory of light and glitter. So many incredible moments I was lucky to witness and capture, but several stand out in particular. During the ceremony, as Kate walked down the aisle and all eyes of the guests and her groom were trained in on her, Joe’s mother and father watched him. Soon after, Joe also read vows to Evie promising to be there for her always to support and love her and to embarrass her as only fathers can do. He then slid a tiny ring on her tiny finger. Evie turned to walk back to her seat, spun around and ran to jump in Joe’s arms for the most epic and heart-tugging hug that had everyone wiping away tears.
I don’t think we can ask for much more as documenters. This is what we live for. To capture moments that should live on forever.
