Part III: Lands End, Sutro Baths
This was definitely one of my favorite parts of the trip... okay, okay everything was a favorite part! But this was just so cool! The Sutro Baths were once grand private pools right at the continent's edge. Glass bath houses, arcades, tropical plants, and extravagant promenades - it was originally built in the 1800's with a very hefty price tag of over $1,000,000! Sadly, the buildings burned in the 60's. Today, tourists and locals alike are still drawn to it.
It was nearing sunset when we arrived to the Baths. It had rained for much of the day, but as we made our way down to the ruins and to the shore, the sky began to open just a bit to gift us with some beautiful pink sunset tones. We walked through the tunnels to the rocky edges, we climbed atop the ruins and danced on the narrow pathways.
Justin filmed many of the day's adventures - be sure to check out the video at the end of this post!
