Travel Diary: San Francisco + San Jose | Personal

I wish I could find the words to write in vivid detail how amazing witnessing the Golden Gate Bridge disappearing into the heavy fog was - looming like a giant surrounded by gray nothingness and how it stole my breath away. To find the words, but fail to describe the pure majesty of the massive Redwoods - older than many civilizations - the wetness that hangs in the air, the realness of the scent of old and ancient and secretive. Trees that have seen more life, more change, more growth than a hundred lifetimes over. I wish I could write for hours about the street and architecture of downtown San Francisco - the Painted Ladies in all their Victorian glory and pastel beauty. I wish desperately I could remember with text and words those fleeting magical moments and honor them properly. But - as with most new experiences - words just can't cover it all for me. And I'm a pretty wordy person. So I photograph to remember, and to relive, and to revisit.

Below is a collection of travel images from our brief weekend in San Jose and San Francisco.

Part II: Fort Point

Fort Point is must-see on any trip to San Francisco. Built long before the Golden Gate Bridge, it was meant to stand guard right at the nation's coast. Later, the bridge was built over the compound, now making it an unforgettable vantage point of both the bridge and the city of San Francisco.

You can't shoot your first engagement session in San Fran, and not get a shot of the couple and the bridge - and this was hands down, the best place to do it! We arrived shortly before closing, and had the run of the place. We explored the open halls and climbed up the winding staircases to photograph T'lesa and Ryan dancing in the beautiful soft light, and creating cinematic images that truly tell a story.

Part III and a Bonus tomorrow!
